Do you take insurance?Yes. We are on several insurance panels. We are also available for self-paying clients. If we do not accept your insurance, some insurance companies may reimburse you for services you obtain and pay for out of pocket. If this is the case with your insurance, we will be happy to provide you with documentation such as an invoice or bill for you to submit to your insurance company. Be sure to contact your insurance to verify if this is possible and what is required to receive reimbursement.

How long are sessions?Therapy or coaching sessions typically range from 30 – 60 minutes for individuals, and 1 to 1.5 hours for groups. We work with you to determine how many sessions will be feasible, and accommodate your schedule as best we can. We will discuss fees with you when you contact us.

Are sessions confidential? Who will know my information?What you share in therapy is confidential with the following exceptions: Any past or current harm or abuse to a child Imminent threat of harm to yourself or someone else Someone you consent to sharing the information with Court-ordered disclosures: If you were referred to treatment by the Court or an agent of the Court, we may be required to provide reports to the Court or its representatives Please note that we are required to make certain disclosures to the insurance company in order to receive payment for your sessions. This usually includes your name and other identifiable information, your diagnosis, date and time of session, what treatment you received, progress/prognosis, medical necessity for continued treatment.

Do you have flexible hours?Yes! We work weekdays, and are available for some evening or weekend sessions. We will discuss availability when you contact us.

Where are you located?Our main office is at 280 Route 211 East, Suite 7, Middletown, New York 10920. We also work out of our Brooklyn, New York site on some days. We will provide additional information when you contact us to schedule your appointment.

What payment methods do you accept?We accept cash, credit card, or check. We provide a receipt on request.

Do you help people who are experiencing addiction or substance abuse?Yes. Dr. Barrett has several years’ experience working with people in recovery from addictions including clients mandated by the court, or those whose lives have spun out of control due to substance abuse or dependence. Dr. Barrett is a credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor (CASAC2) in New York and has worked as director of an OASAS certified addiction treatment program.

Do you prescribe medication?No. You should see your primary care doctor or psychiatrist for medication or prescriptions.

Do you work with churches?Yes. We work with individuals who identify as Christ-followers and are seeking to honor their faith in a counseling relationship. Some individuals are referred through their church, or find us on their own. We also provide consultation, training, and support to churches and businesses to help develop leadership, train staff and lay leaders, and develop community relationships.

Do you provide online therapy?Yes, we provide online counseling sessions to individuals located anywhere in New York State.
